Call of Duty edges closer to possible Xbox Exclusive

The call of duty community has been in a frenzy recently, as rumors have surfaced that the popular game may become an Xbox exclusive.

This all started when Microsoft announced that they had signed a contract with Sony to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for 3 years. However, Xbox president Phil Spencer later clarified that this deal only applied to the current contract, and that there was no guarantee that Call of Duty would remain on PlayStation beyond that.

This has led many to believe that Call of Duty may eventually become an Xbox exclusive, which would be a huge blow to the PlayStation community. A deal has been made behind closed doors from Xbox president Phil Spencer, but this deal was not to be made public and still hasn’t been considered enough that it won’t occur.

Playstation CEO Jim Ryan in a statement to Games Industry.biz:

“Microsoft has only offered for Call of Duty to remain on PlayStation for three years after the current agreement between Activision and Sony ends,” Ryan continued. “After almost 20 years of Call of Duty on PlayStation, their proposal was inadequate on many levels and failed to take account of the impact on our gamers. We want to guarantee PlayStation gamers continue to have the highest quality Call of Duty experience, and Microsoft’s proposal undermines this principle.”

While there is no concrete evidence that this will happen, the fact that Microsoft is already making moves to keep Call of Duty on its platform is certainly a cause for concern. Only time will tell if these rumors are true, but for now, the call of duty community is on edge.

If call of duty becomes an xbox exclusive, I dont imagine that will sway people to purchase an xbox just to play it in the coming generations or titles. Would you?

  1. “I dont imagine that will sway people to purchase an xbox” LOL but Sony thinks so and even said “cod being exclusive to xbox will effect people’s choice of console”
    – yes it will make millions of people buy an Xbox, you know why? because if you go now and see most played playstation games in the last 2 years you’ll find COD is number 2 on top 10 list. those million of people who play on console will not buy an expensive PC. they will buy a series S to put it in the living room, it’s cheap and small and with game pass they don’t have to pay $70 for one game. COD is always ranking on top 5 most played games on sony consoles
